There are few events in a young adults life that conjure up feelings of immense excitement. These life events are like nothing else. Butterflies are zooming around in your stomach and you have a goofy smile on your face you can't wipe off. I could probably count these events on one hand. High school graduation, your first college hook-up, and spring break trips. And if you have been on a spring break trip, you know the feeling I am talking about. What could be better than a week of no school, warm weather, lots of good looking people, and massive consumption of alcohol? If this is something that sparks your interest, and gets those butterflies in your stomach moving around a little bit, then Panama City Beach, FL, is the spring break spot for you!
Panama City Beach or "PCB", is one of the hottest and craziest spring break destinations you can find. It is located on the Florida panhandle, and is famous for having "the world's most beautiful beaches." Although that may be a stretch, the beaches on PCB provide spring breakers with a perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy their vacation. I may not give these beaches the crown for the most beautiful in the world, but one thing that cannot be denied is their sugar-white sand. With the sand as white as snow, and the water a beautiful shade of blue, this is a tough vacation destination to pass up.
Panama City Beach has often been given the title of, "The Spring Break Capital Of The World." This is easy to understand when annually, PCB brings in over 100,000 high school and college age spring break vacationers. Imagine the best frat party you have ever been to, put it on the beach, and times it by 500 and you could roughly estimate the action of
Spring Break Panama City Beach.
Now it is time that I interject my personal spring break experience. A few years ago, I took a spring break trip to the Florida panhandle. Unfortunately it was not to Panama City Beach, but we needed to pass through it to get to where we needed to go. I remember being within 3 hours of Panama City and the scenery began to change. I do not mean the trees/houses/buildings, but the people that were occupying the road with us. It quickly went from grandma and grandpa drivers with a few locals here and there, to cars loaded to capacity with college students. As we began to get closer, the spring break atmosphere was all around. It was like nothing I have every experienced before. People had their heads and half their bodies hanging out the window screaming, "Spring Break!!!!!" As we drove through Panama City, people were everywhere and the party scene was already crazy. It was 10:30 in the morning. Needless to say, we were bummed we couldn't join the party and stay a few nights. This was my experience with Panama City Beach, and although I was only there for 10 min and in a car, it was the craziest spring break atmosphere I have ever seen.
